PLAN OVER PREP

“In planning for battle, I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.” Dwight D. Eisenhower

While food prep or fitness is FAR from battle, I think we can apply this quote to both.

Food prep is what gets all the attention but it's actually the planning that deserves the credit. By thinking through what you are going to consume, then planning the grocery list, to allocating the time to do all of this, you can see that the actual prep portion of this process is very little.

Why does this matter?

Often I hear that people fail to hit their nutrition because of not meal prepping. The truth is, they usually miss the mark because there is no planning in place.

The good news is that when time is taken to plan, hitting the nutrition often doesn't even require prep. Maybe it's planning on leftovers, grabbing something on the go, slamming a shake, etc.

Bottom line, spending the time to plan out your nutrition is the key. This also includes planning out when you are going to train vs expecting it to just happen. This process helps you to be flexible, intentional and able to pivot easier.

Another way to say it is "failing to plan is planning to fail."
