When I was younger, I was not a fan of vegetables. My mom would have to really ‘dress’ them up to make me want to eat them. When I started to get into bodybuilding and nutrition, it still wasn’t a top priority, I was just focused on hitting my intake goal and macros.

However in the past five years or so, I have really changed my tune and doubled down on both the fruits and vegetables.

There are many reasons for this but the primary one is overall better health. The greater the variety of foods (especially when it comes to produce) the more beneficial to health. More phytochemicals, vitamins, minerals and fiber not only support all the body’s system, but also good gut health.

While hitting your macros and calorie intake is the big and first factor, don’t neglect the quality, especially when it comes to the plants.
