"HABITS are the compound interest on self-improvement."

What this means is that in the same way that money multiplies through compound interest; the effects of your habits will multiply as you repeat them.

***This is great news - if you are talking about a habit that will get you closer to your goals - this is BAD news if you are talking about a habit that takes you farther from your goals. ***

This is why it can be so hard to incorporate "good" habits and easy to fall into the "bad" ones. Both make little difference on any given day, in the moment - but yet the impact they have over time when repeated over weeks, months and years is quite profound! We are just too impatient!

From the book "ATOMIC HABITS" -

"When we repeat 1% errors, day after day, by replicating poor decisions, duplicating tiny mistakes, and rationalizing little excuses, our small choices COMPOUND into toxic results. If a pilot leaving LA were to adjust the heading only 3.5 degrees south, rather than ending up in NY, they would land in DC. This small of a change would not even be noticeable at take off, but the end results ends up hundreds of miles off. Similarly, a slight change in your daily habits can guide your life to a very different destination. Making a choice that is 1% better or 1% worse will seem insignificant in the moments, but over time these choices determine the difference between who you are and who you could be. Success is the product of daily habits - not once-in-a lifetime transformations."

OUTCOMES (RESULTS) are the lagging measure of your habits. And those HABITS can cut you down just as easily as good habits can build you up.

***So - will you choose to make a 1% change in the direction of your goals? Or will your choices take you 1% farther from you goals? ***
