Ever walk into the gym after a long day, ready to crush your workout, only to find every piece of equipment you planned to use is taken?
It's frustrating, but it doesn't have to derail your workout.
One thing I've learned is there is no perfect workout. Just because your plan changes doesn't mean your progress has to. The goal isn't to follow your program exactly as written every single day. The goal is to train with purpose, put in the work and keep moving forward.
A crowded gym is a great opportunity to practice being adaptable.
Instead of standing around waiting for one machine, use dumbbells, try a similar movement or find another way to train the same muscle group. Sometimes you end up discovering exercises you like even more than the ones you originally planned.

If you do get a piece of equipment you need, don't be afraid to stay there a little longer. Rather than bouncing around the gym, get your volume in while you have the opportunity. You can always adjust the rest of your workout accordingly.
It's also okay to ask someone if you can work in. Most people are happy to share equipment, and being willing to let others work in with you is just good gym etiquette.
One thing I would avoid? Supersets during busy hours. Trying to occupy two pieces of equipment when the gym is packed usually creates more frustration for everyone involved.
At the end of the day, don't get so caught up chasing the perfect workout that you miss out on a productive one.
Train with the right intensity, be flexible, respect the people around you and focus on what you can control.
A modified workout is still a good workout, and consistency will always beat perfection over the long run.
Drop a if you've ever had to completely change your workout because the gym was packed.
