The Most (and Least) Important Supplements

If your nutrition, training, rest and recovery aren’t in place, your supplement stack isn’t going to save you.

Back when I used to own a supplement store, I would say this same thing.

However, there are what I would consider some core supplements that are worth prioritizing, some that are more situational and others that you’re probably better off skipping.

Tier 1: The Foundation

• Protein powder

• Creatine monohydrate

• Omega-3 fish oil

• Multivitamin

Tier 2: Performance & Support

• Magnesium & Vitamin D

• Pre-workout / L-citrulline

• Intra-workout carbs & EAAs

Tier 3: As-Needed / Targeted

• Joint health

• Sleep aids

• Hormone support (always get bloodwork done first instead of blindly adding to your stack!)

More isn’t necessarily better.

Supplements should support a solid foundation, not replace one. Sometimes the smartest move is knowing what not to take.
