Having just returned from a short mini vacation, there were many different experiences I had included eating different cultural food, adjusting to a different time zone, spending time in airports, getting lost, training at hotel gyms and hiking in unknown terrain.

These are all things that are way outside of my normal structured routine. While I love my normal, predictable schedule, I also know that it’s good to go outside of those boundaries as well.

Within these adventures, I create structure in the things I can such as bringing food (especially protein powder), getting training in (even when modified based on equipment), starting my morning routine the same (especially when the time difference wakes me up early).


Don’t allow changes in circumstances, environment or schedules stress you out. Find the comfort of controlling the small things you can and embracing the adventure of the things you can’t.
