DON'T BE AFRAID
I have always loved critters. As a kid, you would often find me in the woods, at a pond or playing in the creek, seeing what I could find. Not only did I find quite the assortment of weird and fun things (for a boy), I also sometimes got myself into trouble along with occasionally getting bit by said critters.
The first time this happened, I was in shock, panicked and most certainly cried. Whether it was getting bit by a turtle, stung by a wasp, poked by a fish or bit by a snake, the first time it happened, it freaked me out. Truthfully, this was worse than the actual pain it created.
However, over time, I got used to all of these (and others) and soon was able to not let the anticipation of whatever used to cause me trauma to hold me back from having the fun experience that was involved with the risk (plus got better at handling things to not get bit, lol).
This holds still true today for all of us. When we are afraid of the unknown, it holds us back. Whether it’s going to a new level of intensity in the gym, putting our name on a competition registration or dedicating to a nutrition regimen, we create fear for ourselves, which holds us back.
As you take more risks you build up confidence (and maybe a little scar tissue) that makes future events seem easier. This opens up opportunities and helps us experience more and expand ourselves and we improve.
Don’t hold yourself back, get after it and keep expanding those experiences.
