MAKE IT PUBLIC

Not too long ago, I was having a conversation with a group of clients on an accountability call. We always have great discussions, but today the topic was the impact of making public goals.
Going around the room, it was agreed first, that there is an element of motivation added when setting a goal. I think this is universally accepted and one of the many reasons to set goals to achieve.

However, to take this commitment one more level, we all talked about how putting a goal out there public really takes the accountability up a few notches.
By putting a target out there public, whether it be verbally to friends, sticking up a poster or registration form on the wall, or posting something online, when you commit to it outside of your own two ears, the likelihood of achievement certainly goes up.

Certainly, there’s always a chance or risk that things don’t go according to plan, and said goal is not met, and that’s okay. I think it’s equally beneficial to acknowledge when that happens, as everyone can relate and your true supporting crew will continue to be there to help you through to the next challenge.
I can say this, I know when I put my stake in the ground that I’m training for something, unless life throws a curveball (which it certainly does and has at times), you bet I'm going to be working hard to make it happen.
