OPERATING SYSTEM

I'd like to pull back the curtain today and share one of my secret weapons.

By nature, my natural attention span is very scattered and I get distracted easily. Back in school, this was a big issue. I think now, it's a great quality of an entrepreneur, but certainly, I have had to manage it.

Our computers have an operating system to keep it working efficiently. Similarly, I have what I call an operating system that I have used for years.

This system consists of weekly and daily tasks that keep me focused on the things that matter.

A quick overview is three tools. First, I use a weekly planner to help me focus on the right tasks, which is tied to my annual goals. Second, I schedule EVERYTHING in my Google calendar; appointments, workouts, eating, etc. Third, every morning I write my day's activities and the one thing that is a nonnegotiable on a 3" note that I refer back to over the day.

This is what works for me to keep me focused and making progress. What you might do is different, but I think the takeaway is, just like our computers, find the operating system that sets you up for success.
