Only Protein Can Protein

One of the phrases I catch myself saying frequently is "only protein can protein." Why? I’m glad you asked.

Why is it so vital? Beyond just building muscle, protein is essential for:

● Tissue repair and metabolism

● Supporting hormones and organ health

● Maintaining energy and overall well-being

Carbs and fats are both great energy sources. This is why some people do well with high carbs, others high fats, and both flourish (plus usually hate the other, lol). However in either camp, protein is essential and the heavy lifter for keeping your body functioning at its best.

I have found in many cases, unless you’re a "gym rat," most people struggle to get enough protein in their daily diet. It takes intentionality.

Here is some baselines to help boost intake:

1. Make it a priority: Specifically, when choosing meals, determine what is your significant protein source first in any given meal.

2. Whole Foods First: I’m a huge fan of protein powders, but there is a huge benefit to whole foods; try to get at least 50% of your protein from real food, not just powders.

3. Spread It Out: Eat your protein evenly throughout the day for the best results.

My favorite protein to end the day? Without a doubt, my protein ice cream recipe. While many will argue until they are blue in the face about which is better, carbs or fat, it’s hard to argue how important protein is.

On a side note, I think eggs are one of the best protein sources there is and attached pic is the biggest egg I’ve ever seen, produced by one of our very own chickens. Protein on!
