When we start on our fitness journey, often there is a very specific goal that we want to achieve. For me, it was to be a professional bodybuilder.

However, once we reach that goal and/or continue along with our journey, goals can be added or changed.

What should these next goals be? Well, it depends on the individual of course, but likely will contain a component of longevity. This is not only important for long term health and performance, but also because goals change and need to be replaced to maintain focus.

One method that I like to use is physical challenges. Recently my family and I took a trip to the Grand Canyon and went on a very physically challenging hike. Challenges like these give me a gauge of how my body can perform and handle the challenges I put on it.

Whether it’s a hike, race or something as simple as a physical job you do around your home, use it to help determine if there is an aspect of your fitness that you’re missing or could improve on.
